1st Day of 2nd Grade

Happy Happy Joy Joy

Hats on your head. Hats on a rack. Hats hiding in your pack. Hats on your knee in church. Hats that you find after a search. Hats that blow off your head in a storm. Hats (when it's cold) keep you snug, dry and warm. Hats that tell us who you are. Hats that help us see real far. Hats are cool!

The Sun shines even when it's cold outside, even when we want to hide in our hats and scarfs and coats. There's always something happy somewhere, even when we're really sad, even when the world seems bad, if we open our eyes. 

We work and play all day - evening comes we read then sleep and rest our night away. We wake - we dress - we eat - we leave, we start it all again. We set sail anew in the river of life and round another bend. On a river we've never sailed before each turn brings something new. It's that discovery, that surprise, that keeps us pulling through.

There's a narcissus on our shelf at home in the kitchen - all alone. "Please remember" I hear her cry, "To give me water when I'm dry." "Talk to me - just once in a while. Let me see your pretty smile. If you do then pretty soon I think I'll make my flowers BLOOM"

There's an eagle on a limb. Wouldn't it be fun to be him (for a little while). Makes me smile to think of it.

This morning... the street lights struggled with all their might to hold the right - to win the fight with the morning light sneaking over the house tops.
